Dear Younger Me

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under The Heaven.”

— Ecclesiastes 3:1

I’ve been writing for a good little bit and just wanted a place to document my ever-changing emotions and lil bits of revelation He gives me. I hope that I can look back on this blog site and cherish the misadventures of someone who just hopes everything works out.

You’re going to be okay. Melt downs are reality, but so are prayer-meetings in the car, late nights at Dairy Queen after prayer-meetings and more time spent with God. That’s a reality. I know you feel lonely, I know that it seems that all of your friends have left you and you lucked out because you’re so much younger than anyone you truly feel close too. God knows too. He knew the number of tears, prayers and sleepless nights you’d spend worrying about the situation you feel utterly trapped in. Sis, that is God’s protection over your life. People are here for seasons, but He is here for eternity. The uncomfortable feeling you get when you remember how that friend hurt you, how he doesn’t even look at you, and how your prayers feel like they’re just hitting the ceiling, He knows those feelings too. He is shaping your heart to be like His. That’s why you’re feeling these things. Hold to His Word, it never fails. Hold to prayer, it never ceases. You’ve spent so long digging in someone else’s Christmas presents that you forgot you have your own tree. Put down what God didn’t make for you. He will put you and him together one day, Abby. He promised. Let it go for now. Don’t focus on the hurt he’s caused you, baby names or how you’ll feel cleaning his dishes in pure awe of how you got to where you are. Because we’ll never reach that unless we focus on the now. Be with God. Be still with Him. For these moments are just moments. Singleness is a blessing. You’ll never again, be where you are now. Read that again. Stop waiting for life to come, it’s here! It’s in Him! Fast, pray, seek His Beautiful Face and never stop. One day, God will have you as a global evangelist. But today, He wants Abigail. The girl with the extreme bed-head curls and eye boogers. The one with the soft heart and thickening skin. The Abigail that loves Him just because. What a wonderful thing. His Beauty is wanting to be revealed. Open your eyes to revelation of His Glory and Goodness. You’re still here, Abby. I see myself in the phases of life and I’m just wanting to hug the Abby from two days ago and the Abby twenty years from now. You’re going to be put through tough seasons to change, mold and shape you into who God wants you to be. You’re in the waiting. He’s in the waiting.
